Job Title: Site Director, Before & After School Program

 

Qualifications: Minimum Level 1 NCECAC  and 400 hours verifiable experience working with school-aged children in a licensed child care program or 600 hours of verifiable experience working with school-aged children in an unlicensed school-age or camp setting or equivalent undergraduate, graduate, or associate degree, with at least 12 semester hours in school-age care related coursework

 

Reports to: Before & After School Program Director

 

Supervises:  Assigned Program site and staff

 

Purpose of Position: To assure the provision of a well-organized, smoothly functioning before and after school care program in which students can take advantage of quality activities that promote student success

 

Responsibilities, Duties, & Expectations: 

  • Assumes responsibility for the daily, on-site administration and planning of the program in accordance with Board and State policies and guidelines
  • Recommends assistants and substitutes to the Program Director
  • Arranges for substitutes in accordance with board procedures
  • Supervises staff including review of lesson plans, staff scheduling, and evaluation
  • Communicates with patents regarding program policies, program availability, menu postings, activity schedules, student behavior, student injuries, tax information, and related issues.
  • Notifies parents immediately of student injuries requiring medical attention beyond minor first aid
  • Holds staff meetings, workshops and staff training
  • Approves and purchases, with the approval of the Program Director, all supplies for the program
  • Receives and records registration and payments for students, deposits funds, and maintains financial records according to state and district policies
  • Maintains program records and make regular reports to the Program Director
  • Serves as a liaison for the program to the regular school staff and administrators
  • Makes discipline referrals to the appropriate administrator(s)
  • Maintains written plans and schedules for the program according to local and state guidelines
  • Plans and implements fire and tornado drills and keeps necessary records
  • Assumes responsibility for and makes recommendations to the Program Director concerning student health and safety issues
  • Assumes responsibility for and makes recommendations to the Program Director concerning financial procedures and program activities
  • Makes recommendations for scholarships for children in need of financial assistance for fieldtrips
  • Reviews and approves videos and other materials and activities used in the program
  • Keeps daily attendance records for students and staff
  • Ensures that students are properly supervised and released to parents/guardians or to those with written authorization of the parent/guardian
  • Practices approved discipline policies regarding student behavior
  • Secures and approves community resource people for the program, subject to the Program Director’s review
  • Plans field trips, including the responsibility for arranging transportation, and securing parental permission
  • Maintains first aid kit and establishes procedures consistent with the district crisis response and Emergency Triage Plan
  • Maintains current medical requirements
  • Provides suggestions and recommendations for program improvement
  • Maintains confidentiality of program and student records and concerns
  • Practice and maintain staff-student relationships which foster respect for staff and contribute to the positive self-esteem of the students
  • Become conversant with all policies and operations of the Before & After School Program
  • Implements approved discipline procedures and makes referrals to the school administration
  • Works with staff members in a positive manner in order to accomplish the goals of the Before & After School Program
  • Maintains current First Aid and CPR certification

    • Works in partnership with parents to strengthen the educational program for all children.
    • Communicates positively in public to all stakeholders about school and district educational programming.
    • Maintains appropriate and ethical work habits, including regular and punctual attendance, appropriate management of planning time during the workday, and abiding by the rules of the organization as public role models for students and the community.
    • Keeps all student records and information confidential in accordance with accepted professional ethics along with state and federal laws.
    • Upholds and enforces school board policy, administrative procedures, and school rules/regulations at all times in all situations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the administration

 

Evaluation and Measurement of Performance: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of support personnel.  Evaluations will be conducted at any point and time during the school year and summer programs.

 

Terms of Employment:  Twelve -month year.  Work schedule to be established by the Board of Education in conference with Before and After School Program Director’s assessment of needs.  Summer Camp employment is additional employment as needed.
